Reverend Solomon Townsend Headstone

This headstone, located in Prince's Hill Cemetery, marks the resting place of the Reverend Solomon Townsend, the longest serving Minister at the meetinghouse (1743 to 1796). Reverend Townsend died on Christmas Day, 1796. While serving as Minister, Reverend Townsend resided at the parsonage located at 484 County Road, adjacent to the Bowen Tavern (where he was a frequent patron) and just north of the meetinghouse.
